Dental Checkup
and
Cleaning
Regular examinations are crucial for maintaining optimal oral health and for identifying any potential health issues early on.
During your scheduled cleaning appointment, we meticulously clean your teeth to eliminate accumulated tartar and plaque. Following the cleaning, we conduct a thorough examination to assess any changes in your teeth and detect any potential issues.
Dental Checkup and Cleaning Process
Physical examination: Before the cleaning begins, a dental hygienist or dentist will visually examine your mouth, gums, and teeth to check for any signs of oral health issues such as cavities, gum disease, or oral cancer.
Plaque and tartar removal: Using specialized dental instruments, the hygienist or dentist will carefully remove plaque and tartar buildup from the surfaces of your teeth, especially along the gumline and between teeth. This process, known as scaling, helps prevent gum disease and tooth decay.
Cleaning with a gritty toothpaste: After scaling, the hygienist or dentist will use a gritty toothpaste and a high-powered toothbrush to polish your teeth. This helps remove any remaining plaque and surface stains, leaving your teeth feeling smooth and clean.
Flossing: The hygienist or dentist may floss between your teeth to remove plaque and debris that may have accumulated in areas that are difficult to reach with a toothbrush.
Rinsing: You'll be asked to rinse your mouth with water or a fluoride mouthwash to remove any remaining debris and to help strengthen your teeth against decay.
Fluoride treatment (optional): In some cases, a fluoride treatment may be applied to your teeth to help protect against cavities and strengthen tooth enamel.
